When is Flu Season?
Influenza is a year-round, global virus. Because the flu season typically coincides with the winter months, the Northern hemisphere's flu season is often from October-April and the Southern hemisphere's flu season covers the other months of the year.
Flu Season Facts:
- In the United States, flu mostly spreads during the fall and winter months
- Flu activity usually peaks between December and February, although significant activity can last as late as May
- Other respiratory viruses also circulate during flu season and can cause symptoms similar to the flu
