Families Fighting Flu continued to work with influencers this flu season, who shared their personal stories about the flu and the importance of getting flu vaccines. As we shared when we first started working with them, we wanted to engage real people to use their connected platforms to share our important mission, as well as educate and inform their audiences about the importance of getting vaccinated, testing, and other flu prevention methods.

The Campaign
We partnered with a variety of influencers across different social media platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook.
Here’s a look at some of the content highlights:

Ashley
A mom of three, Ashley experienced the dangers of flu first-hand, as one of her children was in the hospital before due to influenza. Her Instagram Reel said, “He was OK, but many families aren’t so lucky.”

Jill
A military wife and mom of three kids, Jill knows the importance of making time for her family to receive their annual flu vaccines. In her Instagram post, she said, “The flu virus has been hitting our community hard this year. We made sure to get our flu vaccines to be able to fight the flu.”

Tamara
Tamara is a mom of four and always makes health a top priority for her family. Her Instagram post said how her whole family was hit with sickness last fall. She said, “Testing for flu and other respiratory illnesses during what’s being called a “tridemic” is so important!”

Daniel
Daniel, a twin dad of two, took his audience along for his flu vaccine! In his informative Instagram Reel, he said, “I went to my local pharmacy, and in less than 15 minutes, I was good to go! Don’t wait to get ahead of your health.”

Stuart
A TV and digital host and mom of two little boys, said in her Facebook post, “It’s so important to keep in mind that the flu doesn’t discriminate – even young and healthy people can have serious complications from the flu. I’ll never forget the year back in my twenties I didn’t get my annual flu shot, and I was down for the count for two weeks!”

Why Social Influencers?
Social media influencers are a great way to reach more people. Many people follow influencers because they trust them. With a lot of misinformation online, this team of influencers made sure to share only factual, real information that we helped provide. They also told the message in their own unique ways, weaving in their personal flu stories.
We were thrilled with the response from both the influencers and their audiences. The content was well-received and helped spread the message about flu prevention to a wider audience. The team delivered 71 pieces of unique content, and the campaign generated engagement rates on Instagram that exceeded the industry average! Some of the audience comments included:

  • “I just told my husband today, can I still get a flu shot? This answers my question thank you!”
  • “The flu is the worst! Never used to get the shot until I had it, & never again will I go without it”
  • “My son had the flu for 10 days this year. Everyone needs to get the shot!!”
  • “Looking forward to getting vaccinated this month. Thanks for the reminder!”

Thank you again to our influencer partners. Show them your support by liking and sharing their content. And, if you are sharing your own story on social media, please use #FamiliesFightingFlu.
