Family Holds Flu Vaccination Events in Memory of Daughter

Amber McCarthy, FFF Board Member, and Irelynd McCarthy, FFF Junior Board member, lost their daughter and sister Ayzlee to flu in 2014.

Ayzlee never had respiratory symptoms but was dehydrated, had an increased heart rate, and confusion. Less than 10 hours after going to the emergency room, she passed away from septic shock secondary to influenza.

Ayzlee’s family knows that flu vaccination is the best way to prevent flu hospitalizations and deaths. They hold events every year to vaccinate their community in hopes that no other family will have to lose a healthy child to a vaccine-preventable disease.

The McCarthy family knows that in order for vaccines to be most effective, the majority of people need to be vaccinated to create herd immunity. If you live in their community, consider attending one of these events:
